Josh Brolin made his third appearance as host on the sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live,” accompanied by musical guest Ariana Grande.
As expected, “Saturday Night Live” began its latest episode by satirizing the Republican response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address.
In the cold open, Mikey Day’s portrayal of Biden addressed Congress, poking fun at House Speaker Mike Johnson’s reactions during the speech. Day’s Biden then introduced the Republican rebuttal, delivered by Alabama Sen. Katie Britt, whose recent speech drew significant online criticism and SNL parody comparisons.
Surprising viewers, Scarlett Johansson made a cameo on the show to play the role of Sen. Katie Britt. In the spoof, Johansson’s Britt humorously presented herself as a “Scary Mom” auditioning with an original monologue titled “This Country is Hell.” She exaggeratedly emphasized her role as a mom and included a misleading story about sex trafficking, similar to Britt’s controversial remarks during her actual response.
Johansson’s portrayal highlighted Britt’s attempts to appeal to women voters and her critique of the Biden administration’s policies. The skit also referenced Britt’s questionable comparison of current times to the “good old days” of 2020.
In the episode’s monologue, Brolin humorously compared hosting SNL to taking a cold plunge, emphasizing the exhilarating yet nerve-wracking experience. He concluded by stripping down to his underwear and plunging into a cold bath onstage, likening the show’s unpredictability to the shock of icy water.
