Happy Gilmore Sequel: Teeing Off Again?

Hollywood, CA – March 24, 2024

Could Happy Gilmore be making a return to the fairway? Actor Christopher McDonald, who played the iconic villain Shooter McGavin in the 1996 comedy, recently hinted at a potential sequel.

In an interview on Audacy’s radio show 92.3 The Fan, McDonald revealed that Adam Sandler, the original film’s star and co-writer, showed him a draft script for “Happy Gilmore 2.” McDonald expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Fans demand it, damn it!”

A Beloved Comedy Classic

The original Happy Gilmore remains a cult classic, beloved for its outrageous humor and Sandler’s signature comedic performance. The film follows Happy Gilmore, a disgruntled hockey player who discovers a hidden talent for golf and enters a tournament to save his grandmother’s house. McDonald’s portrayal of the arrogant and ruthless Shooter McGavin is a comedic highlight, creating a perfect foil for Sandler’s Happy.

Will the Sequel Drive Off With Success?

While news of a potential sequel has fans excited, there’s no official confirmation from Sandler or a studio. However, Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison, has a longstanding deal with Netflix, making the streaming platform a potential home for the film.

Whether Happy Gilmore 2 tees off or remains stuck in the rough, the original film’s legacy continues to entertain audiences, leaving them wanting more.
